Museum Interpreter
Frederic Remington Art Museum
The Frederic Remington Art Museum is looking for a highly motivated, team-oriented individual to share their
passion for art, history, and culture with museum visitors. This position is an integral part of the success and future
of the Museum. As part of the front desk team, you are the face of the Museum and the first, and sometimes the only,
one to interact with our guests.
<br/>As a Museum Interpreter you will develop your communication, public speaking, organizational, and research skills
while gaining valuable museum work experience. <br/>
<br/>Your duties include: <br/>
<br/>- Greeting guests, processing admissions using the POS, giving an introduction to Museum patrons, engaging
with guests in the gallery
<br/>- Stocking the gift shop, ringing out gift shop purchases
<br/>- Help keep the Museum presentable with light cleaning such as vacuuming and dusting
<br/>- Ensure the front desk is stocked with supplies for purchases from gift shop as well as clerical supplies
<br/>- Commit to initial training and continuous learning through participation in meetings, training, and
independent research and reading
<br/><br/>Job requirements:
<br/><br/>- Experience managing/handling cash a plus
<br/>- Strong communication skills are required; communication between staff and front desk as well as
communication with guests
<br/>- Strong customer service skills and enthusiasm for working with the public
<br/>- Must be comfortable speaking in public, and engaging with strangers
<br/>- Ability to work as a team player
<br/>- Strong time management skills
<br/>- Love of learning, self-motivated
<br/>- Interest in history and museums; prior historical knowledge/museum experience a plus
<br/>- Ability to ascend/descend stairs, sit or stand for periods of time and move objects up to 20 lbs.
<br/>- Must be able to bend to the floor to unlock doors
