The MITRE Naval Aviation Systems Department’s (N233) mission is to advance Naval Aviation solutions with urgency, ensuring warfighter dominance against current and future adversaries in defense of our nation. This is accomplished by delivering timely, effective, and sustainable capabilities to ensure the warfighter’s mission success and safe return home.
MITRE’s Lexington Park, MD site has a diverse work program in support of NAVAIR with work in model-based systems engineering, Cyber Security, RF communications, airspace system safety assessments, Nuclear Command Control & Communications (NC3) systems, and systems engineering. Our primary areas of mission concentration include ISR&T sensor integration, NC3, resilient communications, and tactical aircraft and unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV)operations.
Job Responsibilities:
Apply technologies to solve problems of national significance
Computer Science algorithm analysis
Benchmark performance
Processor (CPU/GPU/FPGA) programming
Basic Qualifications:
Must be a student enrolled full-time pursuing an accredited degree seeking program in Software Engineering, Computer Science or a related degree program and continue to be enrolled full-time the semester following the internship.
Sustained excellence in academic performance
Exposure to software development tools and frameworks, including source control management tools (e.g., Git)
Familiarity with software development methodologies
Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience having applied computer science learning to an internship or research/lab position.
Experience with MATLAB, Python, and similar modeling & analytic tools
Processor programming & benchmarking experience
Secret Clearance

$45,500 – $57,000 – $68,500 Annual
