Department Summary:
Our Agile Systems Engineering department is seeking a hands-on UX / UI engineer to design and develop user experiences as part of solving our customers novel problems. The ideal candidate is a creative problem-solver who can understand and interpret user needs, bridge between design and systems engineering, and implement the latest technologies to achieve the optimal user experience. This is an opportunity to apply your unique skills to a wide range of impactful projects that aim to solve some of our nation’s toughest challenges, such as building a global surveillance system to quickly detect and respond to future health security threats. Roles & Responsibilities:
Work closely with human factors engineers, UX designers and researchers, project leaders and sponsors to create software prototypes using current front-end technologies and best practices
Be an advocate for the end-user, ensuring user-centered design principles are kept in the forefront throughout the software development cycle
Provide consulting guidance to MITRE teams and Sponsors
Analyze software implementation, architecture and performance
Generate research and initiative proposals
Basic Qualifications:
Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 2 years of related experience; or an advanced degree without experience; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience.
Must be a US Citizen capable of obtaining and maintaining a US government clearance
Experience with JavaScript, HTML, CSS, D3, JavaScript Frameworks such as Angular, Vue, React and/or similar libraries
Knowledge and/or experience with UX research practices
Understanding agile development methodologies (e.g., Scrum, SAFe, Feature and Test-Driven Development, Lean, Lean Startup, etc.)
Experience in development and prototyping
Experience in designing and implementing user interfaces (UIs) using user-centered design principles
Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
This position requires a minimum of 50% hybrid on-site
Preferred Qualifications:
Advanced degree or equivalent experience in a related field
Advanced experience with visualization tools and libraries
Experience conducting user interviews and requirements gathering
Experience with game design principles and/or development
Entrepreneurial, innovative spirit
