The Adversary Intelligence Department (N926) has the mission to provide deep technical and regional analysis on emerging threats to the United States and its interests in support of USG policy, strategy, integrated capabilities, test & evaluation, and resource investments. Our vision is to enable national security policymakers to anticipate and prepare for future adversarial threats by revolutionizing intelligence analysis and capabilities, empowering them to see beyond the horizon and confidently navigate emerging national and global challenges. This Operations Research position, based in McLean, VA, will support our sponsor through research and data analysis related to multiple mission threads addressing future critical Intelligence Community (IC) needs in the space and ground domains.
Roles & Responsibilities:
Perform research to gather body of knowledge to inform red team / blue team IC mission analysis
Apply operations research, statistics, and data analytics concepts and approaches to mission thread development and analysis
Partner closely with MITRE staff and the sponsor on how to apply MITRE’s data analytics, data analysis, statistics, and data science capabilities to address sponsor challenges
Present results in an intuitive, actionable manner that can be understood by all sponsor audiences, regardless of technical expertise
Work independently and as part of a larger team in sponsor and MITRE work environments
Basic Qualifications:
Active TS/SCI with CI Polygraph
Familiarity with space-based ISR systems and capabilities
Typically requires a minimum of 5 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 3 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD with relevant experience who can immediately contribute at this job step; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience.
Demonstrated knowledge of principles, concepts, methods, and tools for conducting operations research, statistical analysis, mathematical modeling, and data analysis
Familiarity and experience in a modern programming languages (e.g., SysML, Python, MATLAB, Java) and/or Modeling tools, as well as simulation/optimization/business intelligence platforms (e.g., AFSIM, Cameo, Tableau)
Ability to apply operations research, statistics, and data analytics to real world problems.
This position requires a minimum of 4 days a week on-site.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s or Doctorate degree in technical discipline (operations research, engineering, computer science, math, data science, or related physical sciences).
Strong critical thinking, analytic, and problem-solving skills – comfortable working in dynamic settings where task objectives may evolve or need to be shaped, or creative solutions to task impediments must be identified
Comfortable thinking through problems wholistically and from a strategic level
Demonstrated ability to analyze complex data sets and present statistically valid results: orally, numerically, and graphically
Excellent interpersonal and technical communication skills, with the ability to write technical reports, present briefings, and persuasively speak to audiences of all backgrounds, including executives or senior sponsors
