Purchasing Manager

PRIMARY FUNCTION:
– Coordinate the overall Purchasing function, including the leading of the commodity team
– Monitor, reduce and control costs
– Fully develop supply base delivery quality products, services and OTD
– Drive supplier performance through metrics for assigned facilities
RESPONSIBILITIES:
– Lead and develop commodity buyers including performance appraisals and the establishment of appropriate goals and objectives with measurable metrics
– Drive proactive and corrective actions with all suppliers to provide the best quality, cost and delivery (QCD) to Prospira
– Work closely with launch teams to provide adequate support and leadership to get projects completed on time
– In lead of new project RFQs and resourcing RFQs, work closely with the cross-functional team to provide an efficient performance to the RFQs
– Provide leadership in driving cost reductions or cost control measures
– Develop processes and procedures to support activities of the primary functions and Quality System standards to ensure compliance
– Preparation and monitoring of monthly reporting for Purchasing Department
– Visit supplier, as needed, to verify fulfillment of contractual obligations to Prospira and ensure that suppliers are servicing Prospiras best interest
– Maintain high ethical standards and professionalism in all areas of the Purchasing function
– Negotiates with suppliers for goods and services, negotiating the best possible price and service guarantee
– Reviews, monitors and reports market trends to ensure that Prospira is receiving the best price
– Proactive in developing new supply sources
– Examines bids and makes awards to suppliers
– Reviews requisitions for appropriate approval and account numbers
– Analyze quarterly pricing adjustments compared to standard pricing
– Works closely with LSCM — GM in efforts to improve supply chain and reduce costs
– Drives purchasing group performance through the review of monthly metrics
– Lead and monitor continuous improvement efforts with suppliers
– Directly responsible for building strong ethical relationships with internal/external customers
– Responsible for leading sourcing events and including appropriate SMEs to assist in driving throughout the organization
TRAVEL:
Occasional travel to supplier locations
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
– Four (4) year degree in Business or equivalent education or experience
– Minimum of three (3) years experience in direct purchasing functions or equivalent work experience
– Minimum three (3) years negotiation and quoting experience
– Proficient computer skills in Excel, Outlook, Word and SAP
PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
– Minimum three (3) years negotiation, sourcing events, international purchasing and domestic/international supplier manager
– Previous automotive supplier experience
