Cleveland Clinic Fairview Hospitals inpatient pediatric nursing unit provides general medical-surgical care for our youngest of patients and their families. Our 24-bed unit is staffed 24/7 by pediatric hospitalists, nurse practioners and nurses who specialize in pediatric healthcare. Our nursing staff and physician team have specialized training in Pediatric Advanced Life Support and are supported by our Pediatric Emergency Department. With a nursing skill mix of RNs, LPNs, and PCAs, our talented, caring staff specialize in delivering world-class care to pediatric patients with conditions such as: asthma, acute illnesses, infections, dehydration and more. Child life specialists are an important part of our unit structure. These professionals work daily to provide guidance, emotional support and age appropriate understanding of tests and procedures to children of all ages. Our unit has dedicated pediatric nurse practitioners who coordinate patient care, advise on holistic care, and facilitate discharge needs and follow up. Our nursing staff, nurse practitioners and pediatric hospitalists work together to develop a plan of care that is individualized to each patients needs. More than half of the nursing staff on our unit holds professional certification backed by the Pediatric Nursing Certification Board. Fifty percent of our nurses have either a BSN or Masters degree in nursing, with three more staff currently enrolled in school. With a robust Shared Governance group, continual quality improvements are made while focusing on the delivery of family-centered care.

Peds Psych Unit Information: Cleveland Clinic Fairview Hospitals inpatient child and adolescent psychiatry nursing unit provides behavioral health and mental health crisis stabilization for children and adolescents. Our 13-bed unit is staffed 24/7 by caregivers who specialize in child and adolescent psychiatry.

With a multidisciplinary team of psychiatrists, RNs, social workers, LPNs, patient care assistants, mental health workers, and music/art/activity therapists, our talented, caring and compassionate staff specializes in delivering world-class care to child and adolescent patients. Our treatment team addresses conditions such as acute behavioral, emotional and/or psychiatric disorders requiring close observation, supervision, ongoing assessment and/or intensive treatment for therapeutic crisis stabilization. Working together, our team identifies discharge needs and facilitates follow up care in the community.Our goal is to always put patients first and our caregivers aim to provide our patients with the highest quality, safest care possible, implementing the Cleveland Clinic nursing

A caregiver in this position works nights 7:00pm-7:30am

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

Provide or assist with patient care under the supervision of an RN. Patient care may include vital signs, weight, assisting patients with personal care and activities of daily living, patient transfers/transport, pulse oximetry, point of care testing, dressing changes, applying external monitoring devices and removing urinary Foley catheter.

Report abnormal findings or changes in physical, mental and emotional conditions to an RN.

Assist with keeping patients rooms clean and orderly.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

A high school diploma or GED.

Nursing students: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA).

Military experience as a Hospital Corpsman (HM), Combat Medic (68W) or Medical Service Technician (4N0X1) will be considered.

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA). If you do not hold this certification, you must obtain it during your new hire period.

State Tested Nursing Assistant (STNA).

Physical Requirements:

Requires full body motion to move and lift patients, manual finger dexterity with good eye-hand coordination; involves extensive standing and walking.

Medium Work – Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.

Personal Protective Equipment:

Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
