Director of Supply Chain

Essential Functions of the Job:
Provide leadership, direction, and objectives for projects and assignments. Assist in projects and assignments as deemed necessary.
Commodities Manager responsibility for some major suppliers.
Work with other departments, especially internal customers, to assure needs and requirements are being met related to supplier performance criteria.
Develop objectives for department and follow-up on results.
Assist Commodities/Purchasing Managers as required with supplier or internal issues such as negotiations or expedites.
Manage implementation and use of current and new processes and tools required to assure on-time supplier deliveries and purchased inventory reductions, such as VMI Consignments, Commercial Supply Agreements/Product Support Agreements, Kanban’s, expedite processes, JDE improvements, SRM Module, Supplier Quality and Delivery Performance Database, Price Change Database, expedite/forecast/PO/past due/reschedule reports, etc.
Support and expedite new product development schedules and specials processes.
Manage Cost Improvement Team activities and reporting for purchasing and manufacturing cost improvements.
Oversee PPV performance and review process.
Oversee inventory reduction performance and review process.
Attend and participate in Corporate Cost Improvement meetings and projects.
Provide leadership in Alamo Group procurement consolidation projects and government compliance projects, such as engine EPA compliance, between Alamo divisions, as needed.
Assist in developing supplier relationships and performing supplier reviews through meetings and supplier visits. Involve other departments as required.
Conduct all business within company policies and procedures.

Knowledge of laws, legal codes and government regulations related to UCC, movement of goods by air, rail, sea,or road.
Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer needs from a supply management perspective. This includes customerneeds assessment, meeting quality standards, and evaluation of customer
Proficiency with required software and technology including Microsoft Office and internet.
The ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment, working independently, taking on responsibilities to complete assigned job functions.

Education and Experience:
Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BS in BA). Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) preferable. Master of Business Administration (MBA) desirable.
Ten (10) years of purchasing experience.
A thorough knowledge of purchasing policies and procedures and a sound knowledge of business systems & controls are needed.
Must have commodity experience in a production environment utilizing

Working Conditions:
Work in a climate-controlled office, occasional travel as needed, sometimes overnight for several days, domestically and internationally.
