Northrop Grumman Mission Systems’ Airborne Multifunction Sensors (AMS) Division has an immediate opening for a Senior Director of Strategy and Mission Solutions (SMS). This position will be located in Baltimore, Md and will report to the Vice President and General Manager of AMS.
This position is a leadership role within the AMS Division that is responsible for the Division’s strategy, business development and pipeline growth. The selected individual will collaborate with the Business Units to design and execute the Division strategy, identify investment priorities and interface with the Sector Strategic Growth team on sector level priorities.
The position will be responsible for the following:
Leading a team of strategy and business development professionals
Develop long-range objectives and strategic plans for the division. This includes facilitating the strategic planning cycle for the Division, supporting corporate and sector strategic planning initiatives, and leading market analysis for technology and market position assessments.
Translating customer needs into specific requirements
Identifying and tailoring company solutions across divisions and Sectors into offerings
Providing observations, insights and analysis of trends and opportunities in the form of written reports and presentations
Creating and executing customer engagement plans
Serving as point of contact for government and customer organizations
Supporting annual and long-range strategic and financial planning
Supporting responses to customer Requests for Information (RFI) and supporting capture efforts in support of customer Requests for Proposal (RFP)
Engaging effectively across all levels and ranks of our government and industry partner organizations
Coordinating with P&L leads to align strategic direction and customer needs
Working closely with business execution team to ensure a clear, coordinated customer message
Building coalitions across matrixed organizations to drive results
Defining and understanding the warfighter’s hardest problems and interfacing with technical and business management teams to drive impactful solutions
Solving complex problems by analyzing broad variables to include market drivers, business impact, and technological feasibility
Developing business case analysis
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 10 years of related experience or 8 years with a Master’s; alternatively, equivalent military or business and program experience in lieu of formal business development experience accepted
Dynamic self-starter with strong attention to detail, strong work ethic, strategic thinking with respect to customer needs, competitive positioning, and the ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment
Experience building and leading high-performing teams
Ability to think and execute tactically and strategically – deliver near term results while focusing on long term solutions and positioning
Strong interpersonal skills that ensure collaborative and trusting relationships with all levels of the organization, including executive leadership and technical experts
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills and the ability to develop and deliver executive level presentations
U.S. Citizenship and an active DoD SECRET clearance with the ability to obtain a DoD TS/SCI; OR DoE Equivalent with the ability to obtain a DoD TS/SCI
Preferred Qualifications:
Current DoD TS/SCI clearance
Knowledge of DoD requirements, programming, budgeting, and acquisition processes
P&L experience either as a program manager or Operating Unit director
Demonstrated ability to think strategically, to identify and qualify new program opportunities, and to develop and implement creative approaches for executing early phase program activities
Thorough knowledge of government procurement and business development processes; experience in business development success across the phases of the Business Acquisition Process (BAP)
Salary Range: $218,300 – $327,500
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidates experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
