Director of Development

JOB REQUIREMENTS: Director of Development, Leadership Annual Giving This
role leads the team who cultivates and solicits philanthropic support
for university priorities by establishing and developing relationships
with supporters in identified geographic regions and/or affinity-based
groups. (S)he demonstrates a comprehensive understanding of university
priorities and develops and implements fundraising strategies in
managing an individual portfolio of leadership annual giving prospects.
The Director creates a coaching culture of personal accountability to
achieve success. This position has the opportunity to work in a hybrid
work arrangement, with time worked both on campus as well as remotely.
Duties and Responsibilities 1. Manages a portfolio of approximately 100
prospects, renewing 70-80% of the portfolio on an annual basis. Makes
15-20 personal visits and solicitations for the annual fund on a monthly
basis. Maintains appropriate contact with prospects and records
substantive information in university prospect management/database
system. Engage prospects and/or volunteers through promoting their
attendance as guests at events. Attends university and
university-sponsored events and volunteer meetings, acting as a
representative of the annual fund, often during the evenings and
weekends; represents the university to external constituents. 2. Serves
as the primary annual giving contact for College Advancement, Regional
Development and other fundraising teams. Provide oversight to the
Marquette Giving Circle regional leadership annual giving committees in
Chicago and the West Coast (with potential expansion to other key
regions). 3. Develops and executes an annual fundraising business plan
with strategic cultivation and solicitation steps for portfolio
prospects, and a particular focus on increasing the number of leadership
annual giving donors and dollars raised. 4. Meets regularly and
collaborates with direct reports to assess and divide fundraising
priorities, review strategies and track progress toward meeting
fundraising performance benchmarks. Oversee the annual giving team
operating budget. 5. Staffs and supervises other projects, as assigned

OTHER EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS: Required Knowledge, Skills and
Abilities A Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university
is required. At least 5 years of development-related experience in
non-profit or an outside sales environment specifically working with
engaged volunteers and/or directly involved with annual fundraising
efforts and personal solicitation is required. Staff management
experience is also needed. Excellent communication and interpersonal
skills and be able to work with colleagues in a complex, team
environment. A commitment to Marquettes mission as a Jesuit, Catholic
institution is essential along with support of UAs culture focused on
