Overview:

The Senior Project Manager will typically work on complex, urgent, and/or client-sensitive assignment requests depending on assignment numbers/demand. In addition, the Senior Project Manager will have staff supervisory, knowledge management, and training responsibilities. The Senior Project Manager should have a demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal oversight.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties/Tasks and Responsibilities:

The Senior Project Manager provides administrative leadership and management of a complex portfolio for the GH-TAMS project. The position reports to the Project Director and supervises Associate Project Managers and Project Assistants. Additionally, the Senior Project Manager will manage logistics and assignment procedures for GH-TAMS assignments. Specifically, the Senior Project Manager will be responsible for the following tasks and activities:

– Manage complex, urgent, and/or client-sensitive assignment requests the assignment planning process, including working with USAID clients to develop scopes of work (SOWs), cost estimates, and implementation timelines.
– Focus on recruiting of difficult-to-recruit-for technical experts (consultants) in addition to conducting GH-TAMS assignments. Serve as recruiting manager for their assignments.
– Responsible for all logistical support for consultants both in the United States and overseas. Tasked with logistically complex assignments. Serve as peer advisor to PM I and PM II on logistical support for their assignments.
– Coordinate and track project activities and consultants through planning, implementation, and reporting phases, under the supervision of the Deputy Director – Projects and the Project Director.
– Facilitate smooth workflow by maintaining regular communication with project employees, clients, and consultants to ensure that clients and consultants are supported throughout the course of their assignments. Proactively monitor issues before they become challenges that impact delivery of services and share systems improvement with the Deputy Director level. Act as peer advisor to PM I and PM II on client interaction and delivery of services.
– Ensure necessary USAID approvals are obtained in a timely manner by preparing official notifications to USAID and other key stakeholders. Assist Deputy level to ensure PM I and PM II level are also maintaining a complete documentation of requests and approvals.
– Independently and accurately draft complex cost estimates. Track expenditures and carefully monitor assignment level budgets. Draft and maintain Assignment-specific pipelines.
– Participate in, and/or chair team-wide meetings and initiatives.
– Conduct trainings/orientations for project staff and consultants on operations, procedures, and tools.
– Promote integration and cross-fertilization of ideas, inf rmation, and best practices across assignments. Review and update standard operations procedures for the PM team.
– Provide technical input for select contract deliverables including ensuring quality control and oversight for assignment report content, preparation, and production.
– Implement administrative start up and close-out of assignments.
– Serve as project mentor and trainer for new Project Managers, Senior Project Assistants, and Project Assistants; orient Project team members to GH-TAMS procedures and processes.
– Serve in the capacity of Deputy Director in their absence.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

– Eight (8) years of total work experience.
– Six (6) years of project management work experience of large, complex, and rapid response assignments.
– Experience with donor or USG-funded projects in a US headquarters environment.
– Knowledge of international development issues.
– Oral and written fluency in English required, fluency in another language preferred.

Education:

– Bachelors degree in international affairs, global health, business, or related field. Masters degree in international affairs, global health, business, or related field preferred.

PreferredKnowledge, Skills and Abilities:

– Well-organized, strong attention to detail, able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, anticipates work requirements and problem solves.
– Outstanding written and oral communication skills.
– Team player, flexible, and proactive.
– Familiarity with Excel, database use, and presentation software (Microsoft Office).
– Oral and written fluency in English.
– Knowledge of international public health and/or other development fields is preferred.
– Fluency in another language (French or Spanish) is preferred.

Working Environment:Work is to be performed remotely. Currently the company is allowing for remote and Hybrid work in the District of Columbia, Maryland and Virginia (DMV), Connecticut, Massachusetts, Washington State,New Jersey,Delaware,Maine,Vermont,New Hampshire,Pennsylvania,North Carolina,Georgia,Florida,Ohio,Michigan,Wisconsin,Illinoisarea. Physical Requirements:This is largely a sedentary position that requires the ability to speak, hear, see, and lift small objects up to 20 lbs.

Supervisory Responsibility:This position does have supervisory responsibilities.

Travel: International travel may be required and may include travel to fragile and/or conflict-prone zones.

Work Authorization: Candidate must be authorized to work inU.S.A.; visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
