Location/Division Specific Information:

The Chemical Analysis Division (CAD) provides a diverse mix of analytical instruments and associated services to a broad range of end user markets including Safety & Security, Environmental, Food Safety, Energy, Mining, Life Science Manufacturing and Recycling, to name a few. Its instruments are deployed in the field and on the line, in challenging environments where customers put a premium on robustness, reliability and ease of use. They allow them to make decisions where they operate and streamline their businesses. CAD is a complex division with a global footprint, broad product portfolio and diverse customer base.

What will you do?

The Applications Scientist works at the intersection of the instrumentation development, sales support and marketing, and the scientific community.

Requires continuous collaboration with both our Software, Systems and Manufacturing groups to ensure system requirements are well understood, developed, coordinated and thoroughly tested.

The Application Scientist will develop a detailed understanding of the applications of our devices and associated workflows

Provide customer and market feedback to Product Marketing and Program Managers; participates in defining customer needs for new application development projects

Collaborate with customers and industry experts to in evaluating new application needs as well as provide product training as needed

This position is full time, and fully on-site at our Tewksbury, MA manufacturing facility

Responsibilities:

Proven problem-solving experience with ability to find the root causes of internal/external customer issues associated with handheld analytical devices

Ability to work independently as well as with various teams within R&D and across the site

Programming experience desirable e.g. Python, Matlab, etc.

Spectral library building – experience a plus

Strong communication and interpersonal skills (both verbal and written)

Results oriented with capability to shift priorities based on project and customer needs

Ability to write applications notes, scientific papers and marketing documents

Ability to train adjacent teams in scientific principles of analytical instrumentation

Ability to travel to customer sites (<10% travel)

Requires training on Corporate Controlled Substance Program Policy and DEA Licensure

Education

MS or PhD, in Analytical Chemistry, Molecular Spectroscopy, Material Science or related engineering field

Experience:

Experience in molecular spectroscopy application development and technology solutions

Prior experience in customer collaborations and partnerships
