Job Title: Modeling and Simulation Engineer

Location: Arnold AFB, TN (On-Site)

Canvas is seeking a mid-level Modeling and Simulation Engineer! This position is to provide advisory and assistance services to the DOD at Arnold AFB. As part of the large greenfield effort, a high-fidelity model of a large electro-mechanical system is needed.

Duties:

Applying advanced computational tools and technologies to solve physics-based technical challenges.

Analysis of physical systems that contain dynamic fluid, thermal, and electrical properties.

CFD modeling of high-enthalpy and high-speed flow devices with complex chemistry mixtures/mechanisms.

Understanding of parametric sensitivities and identifying potential resonances/instabilities related to unsteady systems.

MHD modeling of electromagnetic fields/forces on ionized particles and free electrons.

Proficient in standard computational modeling techniques such as: geometry modeling, mesh generation, boundary/initial conditions, data reduction, numerical solvers, and reduced order modeling.

Requirements:

Bachelors degree in relevant discipline; Masters degree desired. Experience may be substituted for education with customer concurrence.

A minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience.

The following skills are required for this position:

experience with computational tools for 6DOF simulations, including developing plots and analyzing time series data.

experience with programming languages.

familiarity with flight dynamics and control theory.

Experience with MATLAB/Simulink for DOF simulations.

Experience with tools used in CFD/MHD simulations(ie STAR-CCM).

Access to supercomputing capabilities (likely through DoD HPC/DREN).

Work is timely, efficient and of acceptable quality. Completed work meets project/program objectives.

Personal and organizational interactions exhibit and foster cooperation and teamwork, enhance customer relations, and actively promote rapport with customers.

Verbal and written communications are clear, concise, and at appropriate level.

Utilize resources effectively to accomplish mission, including ability to work effectively alone, unsupervised, or within a group.

Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment while being able to prioritize work to balance multiple projects and deadlines.

Focused adherence to safety and security requirements.

Security Clearance: Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
