A Product Engineer is needed for a Swiss-American pharmaceutical and medical device company specializing in eye care products in the Houston, TX area. This role involves collaborating with R&D teams on cataract and vitreoretinal projects, managing supplier and component qualifications, ensuring accurate documentation and production readiness, addressing quality issues, and identifying cost improvements within the medical device manufacturing environment.

responsibilities:

Evaluate and qualify suppliers and components.

Identify and qualify alternative materials or components for risk mitigation or due to obsolescence.

Manage prototype builds, ensuring assembly processes are developed and documented.

Conduct Production Readiness Reviews for new products.

Maintain adequate supply of purchased components through communication with Procurement and suppliers.

Qualify tooling and equipment to ensure manufacturing capacity.

Address component or product quality issues, determining root causes and completing corrective actions.

Skills:

Communicates clearly in both spoken and written English.

Works well with others and demonstrates leadership capabilities.

Quickly learns and retains complex processes.

Focuses on detail and quality in all tasks.

Experience in writing technical protocols and reports.

Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project.

Education and Experience:

Masters degree in Engineering or a scientific discipline preferred.

1-10 years of experience in an engineering or scientific R&D or manufacturing environment.

Root cause analysis experience for issue determination.

Preferred experience in the medical device industry, specifically in manufacturing, design, or quality engineering.
