Under supervision of the DGIT Networking Operations supervisor provide support and serve on the network support team for the DGSOM Network.

This role requires extensive interaction with people of all levels across the enterprise, and a strong focus on customer service types of interaction with the end users.

Our top candidate will have the ability to work independently in a self-directed manner, and collaboratively as a team leader or member; ability to create and implement detailed action plans.

Major functions include design, implementation and support of the 16.000-node SOM network, technology planning and documentation.

Must have good understanding of networking fundamentals (IP Protocols, WiFI, Network Sub-netting, Routing, Switching and VLANs). Hands on experience with Cisco networking equipment (switches, routers, Software Defined networking, WLC, ISE ) and network management tools.

This flexible hybrid role allows for a blend of remote and on-site work, requiring presence on-site as needed based on operational requirements. Please note, travel to the home office location is not reimbursed. Each employee will complete a FlexWork Agreement with their manager to outline expectations and ensure mutual understanding. These arrangements are periodically reviewed and may be adjusted or terminated as necessary.

Salary offers are based on a variety of factors including qualifications, experience, and internal equity. The full salary range for this position is $102,500 -$227,700annually. The University anticipates offering a salary below the midpoint of this range.

Qualifications

1. Demonstrated ability to design, implement and support departmental local area networks, including coordination of cabling, hardware and software , workstation and server configurations.

2. Ability to analyze complex end-user business needs and develop cost effective technical solutions.

3. Demonstrated knowledge of and skill in project management. Ability to plan, develop, and implement short range and long range project plans.

4. Interpersonal and leaderships skills to work effectively with staff, faculty, and administrators

5. Ability to work effectively in spite of frequent interruption and competing priorities

6. Demonstrated ability to work both independently and in team-oriented environment

7. Knowledge of Windows, MAC and Linux operating systems environment.

8. Working knowledge of TCP/IP protocols as well as common application (e.g. routing, radius, email, ssh,snmp,dns,etc ).

9. Proficient experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Visio)

10. Responsible for overall operations and support of the network infrastructure, copper cabling, fiber optic, routers, switches, UPSs and associated hardware

11. Understanding of Ethernet network topology and network components.

12. Strong software and hardware diagnostic skills to solve and /or prevent hardware and software problems quickly and effectively

13. Strong understanding of Cisco switching /routing and Palo Alto firewalls, (4500,9500s ,38xx, Nexus9Ks etc)

14. Ability to skillfully react to a fluid and constantly changing work environment

15. Ability to communicate the status of the operating environment with management and/or support personnel.

16. General knowledge of relevant policies and procedures.

17. Ability to diagnose and solve complex networking problems

18. Strong understanding of wireless technologies such as WLAN, FSO, RF, and others

19. Monitors network for status and potential problems with network management tools such as Logicmonitor, Akips , CiscoPrime, and Sniffers, Netscout products and have basic understanding of IP (routing) protocols and applications; OSPF and BGP

20. Demonstrate working knowledge and/or proficiencies with Cisco networking and various network protocols. Working knowledge of MPLS VPN architecture, expert level knowledge of OSPF and BGP protocols, strong comprehension of LAN switching technologies, and able to incorporate secure practices and concepts into network design

21. Hands-on experience with Cisco Prime/ISE/Infoblox, IOS, TCP/IP, VLAN Implementation, Nexus VPCs, Cisco ACI, Cisco SDA, trunking and inter-VLAN routing; and excellent knowledge of network security management and authentication.

22. Ability to operate with networking-troubleshooting tools such as protocol,spectrum and netflow packet analyzers such as Wireshark and Netscout.

23. Working knowledge of Cisco ISE wired and Cisco WLC,Trustsec and MDM
