Driver-Warehouse Assistant

UNIVERSITY MECHANICAL & ENGINEERING CONTRACTORS

The Driver-Warehouse Assistant holds an important role for University Mechanical and Engineering Contractors San Diego. The position will be responsible for ensuring that materials and tools are delivered to the job site safely and in a quality manner. Items will be delivered, picked up after completion and returned to the warehouse. This individual must have the ability to support field supervisors and maintain positive communication with Field Foremen and Warehouse Manager.

Compensation Range: $22 – 26/hour

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Duties to include are as follows:

– Must be able to drive a 1-Ton 12 ft. flat-bed truck and a F-650 24 ft. flat-bed truck.
– Must have Forklift experience
– Small Tool and Equipment Repair
– Must be able to lift 50 pounds and climb up and down equipment
– Maintains class C Drivers license and clean Department of Motor Vehicle Record
– Responsible for properly securing loads
– Inspects truck for defects before and after trips and submits report indicating truck condition.
– Drives truck to assigned destination
– Assist workers in unloading and loading truck when required
– Sorts and places materials or items on racks, shelves or in bins according to predetermined sequence
– Fills work orders, or request for materials, tools or other stock items
– Maintains inventory records
– Receive deliveries
– Maintains cleanliness of vehicle and warehouse housekeeping
– Must be able to work a 40-hour work week, with occasional overtime
– Follows all traffic laws, is courteous to other drivers, and understands the importance of representing the company and providing a positive image of the company.
– Regular attendance is required.
– Performs other duties as requested.

QUALIFICATIONS

Must have:

– Clean driving record.
– Able to learn and operate companys tools and handling material.
– 3 to 4 years of general knowledge in construction operations preferred.
– Ability to operate power equipment including forklift.
– Must demonstrate integrity, honesty, professionalism and commitment to company values
– Must have ability to build positive working relationships with multiple levels of employees, management, customers and partners and to influence employees in a positive and honest manner
– Must have excellent organizational, communication, strategic, technical, analytical, problem solving, and multi-tasking skills
– Must have high standards of quality with attention to detail
– Must possess excellent written and verbal communications skills, effectively in the English language
– High school diploma or equivalent experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Must have the demonstrated ability to effectively communicate, cooperate, and collaborate with multiple levels of employees, vendors, and suppliers.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will range from working in a warehouse to a variety of construction worksites requiring walking on rugged or uneven terrain, climbing, kneeling, bending. Worksites could be located underground in tunnels or in high-rise construction. Abl to push and pull 50 pounds, bend, twist, and sit for long periods of time.

The employee will be required to commute to field locations and project sites and will need to be able to navigate around the job site locations.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
