Responsible for overall employee performance, productivity and development. Manages recruiting, hiring and retention of employees including continuing education and training, leadership development, and evaluation for coaching and guidance for employees to achieve their career goals.

Responsible for project management development and execution. Includes oversight of development, maintenance and enforcement of established project management processes, documentation and financial analysis protocols.

Develops and executes on the overall strategy and direction project management team in alignment with Enterprise Project Management Group. Develops uniform project management standards. Accountable for the successful delivery of projects assigned to the team.

Develops and maintains effective relationships across Avista and collaborates with key stakeholders to ensure buy in and effective collaboration across disciplines. This includes external stakeholders where appropriate.

Provides input and assistance assigned customer groups in strategic planning, budgeting, resource planning and allocation, and long-term planning for capital projects.

Participates in the development of 1-year, 5-year, and 10-year capital and maintenance budget requirements. Prepares yearly O&M and non-construction capital budgets for their respective Group. Manages department variance and expected spend reports. Verifies accuracy of expense accounts, time records and other documents.

Manages portfolio of projects for assigned customer group, including facilitation of prioritization efforts, oversight of project controls, and business case support.

Requirements

Requires a Bachelors of Science degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent

Ten (10) years of directly related utility, technical, or construction experience

Five (5) years of leadership experience (or equivalent) preferred

Professional Engineering license or Project Management certification (PMP or equivalent) required.

Demonstrated experience with developing business strategies and executing on them.

Demonstrated experience in developing work teams and people in a changing environment.

Effective and flexible written and verbal communication and presentation skills required.

Effective interpersonal and organization skills required.

Advanced degree, graduate level coursework or other certifications preferred.

Hybrid work options are available for this role. The successful candidate will be required to work at our Spokane, Washington headquarters at least 3 days per week including Mondays and Tuesdays with an additional day determined by the employee and manager.
