Job Responsibilities/Duties
Structural Engineering Design Authority – Advance Modular Pretreatment System (AMPS).
Washington River Protection Solutions (WRPS) is the tank farm operating contractor at the Hanford Site located in Richland, WA. The WRPS mission is to safely store, retrieve, and treat 56 million gallons of legacy radioactive and hazardous waste. This complex mission spans all competencies of engineering/science accomplished through a highly integrated engineering organization. WRPS was identified as “One of Americas Safest Companies” in 2020; and was the recipient of the 2021 “Employer of the Year” by the Association of Washington Businesses.
WRPS seeks a Structural Engineer to join the Advanced Modular Pretreatment System (AMPS) organization. The Structural Engineer will oversee the Architect/Engineer detailed design activities providing discipline specific guidance and design review oversight throughout the detailed design, fabrication, testing, and construction phases of the project. This will require the application of standard techniques, procedures and criteria in carrying out engineering / project tasks. The position will require problem solving and exercise of judgment as required to develop preliminary and engineering alternatives.
Function as group Design Authority and assist line management and project delivery managers with development of technical work plans and design execution
May be a participant on special assignment as assigned by supervisor.
Use and/or application of technical principles, theories, and concepts.
Prepare conceptual, preliminary and final design engineering contract documents (Plans, Specifications & Estimates) (PS&E) for new and existing structures.
Perform structural analysis and calculations.
Prepare technical reports, quantities and cost estimate.
Review designs, plans and shop drawings.
Provide construction services, field inspections and investigations.
Apply working knowledge of IBC, ASCE, AISC, ASTM, ACI and other structural codes, manuals and standards to engineering design.
Coordinate work with other engineering and technical disciplines, and be adept in working with various clients and their representatives.
Complete other training as required to support career path; and
Perform tasks as assigned, obtaining guidance and help, as needed.
Required Qualifications
Grade 17:
Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Structural or Civil Engineering or related technical discipline; and
Five (5) years of related experience
Grade 18:
Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Structural or Civil Engineering or related technical discipline; and
Seven (7) years of related experience
Note the essential duties for this grade level are like that of the previous grade level, however the scope of responsibility is larger, and the expected level of performance is increased.
Grade 19:
Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Structural or Civil Engineering or related technical discipline; and
Nine (9) years of experience
Note the essential duties for this grade level are like that of the previous grade level, however the scope of responsibility is significantly larger, and the expected level of performance is greatly increased.
Desired Qualifications
Experience with nuclear application of Engineering tasks.
Experienced in use of IBC, ASCE, AISC, ASTM, ACI and related structural codes and standards.
Proficient in use of MathCad, STAAD.Pro and SmartPlant Foundation (SPF) software.
EIT, PE or SE License.
Compensation & Benefits
In accordance with the companys philosophy on compensation for exempt and salaried non-exempt employees, WRPS takes into consideration a variety of factors when determining initial salary to include assigned job scope and responsibility, a candidates qualifications as compared to internal comparators performing in a similar role, and the external labor market. A salary offer will be made within the targeted hiring range posted. Note a candidates prior salary history will not be taken into consideration.
Hiring Range Minimum: $94,650
Hiring Range Maximum: $144,325
