Summary
The Napadow Lab at Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital, affiliated with the Martinos Center for Biomedical Imaging and Harvard Medical School, is seeking an individual interested in biomedical engineering, neuroscience, psychology, chronic pain, or related field for a full-time position as a Clinical Research Assistant I. The research focus of this group is to better understand the brain circuitry underling chronic pain and non-pharmacological therapies, such as acupuncture, neuromodulation, cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness meditation therapy, as well as neurofeedback. The candidate would be working on studies applying real-time fMRI neurofeedback and other functional and structural neuroimaging techniques.
The successful candidate should be comfortable interacting with chronic pain patients. The candidate needs to have good organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities. Candidate should be self-motivated and independent. However, the candidate will also be an active member of a multi-disciplinary team, thus social skills are highly valued by our Lab.
This position is ideal for someone interested in pursuing graduate studies in neuroscience, medical engineering, or related fields, or a career in medicine.
The candidate will work closely with the PI, collaborators, and post-doctoral fellows and gain experience working with clinical populations and advanced neuroimaging and physiological data processing methods.
This position is expected to start in January 2025.
Key Responsibilities
Attends, assists, and coordinates MRI and/or EEG scans and other study visits
Maintains research data, patient files, regulatory binders and study databases
Uses software programs to generate graphs and reports
Assists with recruiting patients for clinical trials
Maintains regulatory documents for the IRB, NIH, and FDA as needed
Performs administrative support duties as required
Works under general supervision
Qualifications
Qualifications and Experience
Education/Degree
Required:
Bachelor of Arts or a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Biology, Neuroscience, Psychology, or other related fields
Experience
Preferred:
Experience in Clinical research interacting with human research subjects
Experience with coding in Matlab, python, and statistical programs (eg. R)
Experience with neuroimaging is a plus
Skills
Required:
Must demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills with the English language
Preferred:
Highly developed communications and interpersonal skills, working with diverse population
Work independently, be self-directed and contribute as a member of a team
Anticipates challenges and develops and implements strategies for addressing them
High level of service delivery. Demonstrate initiative with ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines and adapt to changing situations
