Bar Harbor Bank & Trust is seeking an experienced retail banking professional to join our team as a full-time Personal Banker working 40 hours a week, based in our Blue Hill, Maine location. The Personal Banker will represent the Bank in a courteous and professional manner while providing a customer experience in line with BHBT’s sales and service standards.
In their roles, Personal Bankers Process wide variety of transactions and customer services with an emphasis on maximizing and deepening customer relationships through the identification of sales opportunities. This position is an elevated customer service role and requires an understanding of cross departmental functions and the ability to consistently produce a high caliber and number of referrals to business partners.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Provides a complete range of customer transactions and services including explaining available products and services, and gathering customer information to process new and existing accounts.
Spends time opening and servicing customer accounts.
Demonstrates ownership of customer problems or requests, following up to ensure effective resolution and customer satisfaction.
Knowledgeable of and able to discuss basics of business services, mortgages, treasury management, and investment services; effectively refers customers to appropriate department for completion of the sale.
Sell and cross-sell banking products and services through the utilization of sales techniques, knowledge of those products and services, relationship building and effective methods of presentation
May discuss, sell and close consumer loan products.
Serves as subject matter expert on suite of Online Banking services; through consultation and education identify customers who would benefit from these services.
Consistently meets established standards for first class customer service; Engaged and curious about customer relationships.
A consistent, strong contributor towards meeting branch goals in deposits, loans, referrals, and other categories.
This position requires a candidate with the following knowledge, ability, and skills:
Minimum of a high school degree or the equivalent
Banking, retail experience is preferred
Self-motivated with a demonstrated aptitude and desire for customer service and sales achievement.
Decision-maker with well-developed interpersonal skills
Active listening and communication skills, verbal and written; proven ability to adapt tone and techniques to best suit the audience
Demonstrated ability to solve problems and acclimate quickly to changing priorities; multi-tasking
