Senior Pharmacist – Retail

Job Summary:
The Senior Pharmacist oversees the day-to-day operations of the Pharmacy department. Responsible for training oversight while estimating personnel needs to complete assigned work. Ensures pharmacy location compliance with federal, state, local laws and regulations pertaining to the dispensing of drugs and narcotics. Provides general supervision of daily outpatient pharmacy operations to include supervision of pharmacists, pharmacy aides/assistants, and support staff.
Duties include direct supervision of medication preparation and dispensing, drug monitoring services, patient counseling about medications, interpreting medication orders and prescriptions to ensure that they are complete, safe, rational and compatible with institutional policy, ensuring policies and procedures are followed for the safe operation of the sterile and non-sterile compounding areas and quality assurance functions, including quality improvement projects, as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
B.S. in Pharmacy or Pharm.D., NYS license/registration (or eligible) and five years of pharmacist experience required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Non-sterile compounding experience. Demonstration of strong verbal and written communication skills, as well as, proficiency in the use of computer-based data processing.
Work Days:
Rotating schedule between 7am-8pm with 8 hour shifts. Weekends and holidays based on operational need.
