Job Summary
The Marketing and Communications (Marcom) team functions as an internal agency providing support to various departments across the organization to market their programs and services with the goal of connecting people with resources and activating the community to donate, volunteer and advocate.
Under guidance of the Director of Communications, the Communications Coordinator will collaborate with the Marcom team to provide excellent internal client support by providing expert guidance and ensuring projects move through the Marcom process in a timely manner. This candidate will have knowledge of non-profit marketing strategies and best practices.
Key Responsibilities
Interpersonal
– Manage relationships with internal clients providing support with strategy and timeline development as well as project management and execution
– Manage the print production process, working with vendors to ensure high standards of deliverables, and ensuring timely delivery to internal clients
– Manage material translations, working with translation vendor ensuring timely delivery of materials
– Liaison to Feeding America and Feeding PA to ensure compliance with their communication plans, standards and other marketing opportunities
Administrative
– Lead the Marcom request process ensuring internal marketing requests are moving through the Marcom process in a timely manner.
– Oversee the Marcom photo and story portal ensuring cleanliness and accuracy of the systems
– Oversee the Neighbor CRM system ensuring accuracy of the database
– Assist in maintaining department strategic editorial calendar including press releases, blog posts, videos, social media, etc.
– Understand, translate and implement the Food Banks style and brand guidelines
– Maintain photo and video clearances ensuring forms are completed correctly, in their entirety and filed appropriately
– Maintain the approved marketing materials portal ensuring items are relevant and up to date
Internal Communications
– Manage the creation of an annual internal activities calendar
– Curate internal communications content utilizing platforms including internal emails, marketing screens and other tools as needed
– Manage the creation of staff workstation tags, business cards and other onboarding collateral
– Curate new ideas, content and graphics for the organizations intranet (SharePoint)
Design and Branding
– Design and create content ideas for various print and digital materials (collateral updates, new collateral, internal communications, signage, etc.)
– Photography and videography skills for capturing images of neighbors, volunteer work, food distributions to help tell the story of the Food Bank
Public Relations
– Develop and maintain an ambassador program charged with empowering volunteers to educate the public about hunger and Food Bank programs
– Develop presentations and prepare Food Bank staff and volunteers for external presentation opportunities at outreach events, including civic/service clubs, fundraising events and other community events
– Manages the Food Banks supply of promotional materials and other resources for awareness events, such as collateral, branded tablecloths, pull-up banners and giveaway materials
– Collect/write stories and articles (programmatic, staff, neighbor, volunteer) for newsletters, blog, website and other collateral pieces
– Edit, fact check and proofread content for marketing materials, the pressroom, blog, website and other materials as assigned
– Assist as needed in responding to social media messages and comments
Qualifications:
– Bachelors degree in a related field: Communication, Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism, etc.
– A minimum of 1-3 years work experience in a Marketing and Communications role
– Experience with a nonprofit organization is strongly preferred
– Creative design experience preferred
Specific Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
– Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint required.
– Familiarity with Adobe Design Suite, Canva, printing process and photographic formats required.
– Strong writing skills for a variety of audiences and demonstrated ability to follow AP style writing for newsletters, annual reports and promotional materials with outstanding proof-reading skills and attention to detail.
– Excellent organizational skills with an ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and a variety of demands.
– Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and relate well to all constituents including neighbors receiving food assistance, volunteers, donors, elected officials and Food Bank employees.
– Strong self-motivator, exercises good judgment and ability to work as a team member.
Additional Information:
– Regularly uses close and distance vision. Works at a desk and computer screen for extended periods of time.
– Conditions may include working indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions as needed, working protracted or irregular hours and travel to/from events as needed.
– Must be able to work occasional evenings and weekends when necessary.
– Must be physically able to assist with event setup and breakdown, including lifting up to 30 lbs. regularly and 50 lbs. on occasion.
