Pay: $30.00/hour – Relief Position (See schedule below)

About the Program and Position:
All-Aboard After School is a literacy program designed to help children from low-income and high-risk neighborhoods. We offer a safe and supportive environment where kids can participate in social, educational, and recreational activities tailored to their unique needs and interests. Our small group literacy and age-appropriate activities include homework assistance, physical fitness, social skills building, and access to community resources. And this makes a difference because we help students maintain their grade-level learning and develop positive relationships with adults and peers.
Under the supervision of the Program Director, the Certified Teacher will help students improve their reading fluency, comprehension, and vocabulary. The Certified Teacher will be responsible for small group instruction of Differentiated Literacy Instruction (DLI) as well as completing pre, mid and post assessments of the Oral Reading Fluency (ORF) testing. The Certified Teacher is responsible for updating the team on the progress of each student receiving services.
How you get to use your skills…
Conduct Differentiated Learning Instruction (DLI) individually or in small groups for all identified struggling readers.
Administer a pre, mid, and post test using the Oral Reading Fluency (ORF) assessment to struggling readers.
Help improve reading fluency, comprehension and vocabulary.
Conduct individual and small group fluency intervention activities to students who need it.
Display sensitivity to the service population’s cultural and socioeconomic characteristics.
At a minimum on a daily basis, review and respond professionally to internal/external email communication(s).
Perform other duties, as assigned.
Schedule: Non-Exempt (Relief Position)
Hours will be Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday 3:00pm – 5:00pm
Experience and Skills:
Certified Teacher
School classroom experience preferably with elementary-school age children
Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Sociology, Education or related field
Strong organizational skills
Valid Driver’s License
Strong proof reader and formatter
Excellent communication
Ability to work effectively in a team context
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and to meet deadlines
Physical Requirements:
Word processing: Including responding to e-mails
Lifting of agency file books – weighing approximately 4-6 lbs. File in them as needed, including sorting paperwork, hole punching, opening and closing of binder rings
Completing paperwork -such as copying, stapling
Answering phones, processing mail, filing, lifting packages
