Project Controls Analyst

As a Project Controls Analyst (PCA) , you will be entrusted with managing key project data, including costs, schedules, progress, and communication. In this pivotal role, you will work closely with cross-functional teams such as Operations, Accounting, Legal, and Senior Leadership, ensuring accuracy and supporting strategic decision-making. Compensation: $60,000 to $80,000 depending on skills and years of experience

Duties and Responsibilities:

Work with PMs to anticipate project demands and resolve issues that arise during the project life cycle.

Embrace a “trust but verify” approach, adept at asking probing questions to unearth root issues and ensure thorough understanding.

Develop and maintain project budgets and actual costs; prepare cost reports; and analyze cost data.

Develop and maintain project schedules and actual progress based on information provided by PMs or team members; prepare schedule reports; and analyze schedule data.

Constantly seek to find signs of problems before they occur. Identify warning signs and elevate them to the appropriate level.

Develop and maintain a professional rapport with client, project team members, and internal/external stakeholders.

Participate in process improvement team efforts to achieve divisional/company objectives.

Comply with all safety policies, practices, and procedures.

Perform other duties as required by assigned projects.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of accrual-based accounting methodologies and practices (for fixed price projects and time and materials projects).

Knowledge of computer applications and functions including, but not limited to, Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and project management software (Microsoft Project, Unanet, etc.).

Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.

Strong organizational skills

Excellent problem solving/judgment skills

Understanding of project management and accounting terminology

Ability to prepare and/or maintain project plans, reports, documents, and procedures to address specific project needs.

Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from clients, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.

Ability to travel (less than 20%) and work extended hours for project assignments and meetings

Ability to adjust to a fast‐paced environment and meet project deadlines.

Ability to compile, review, and reconcile data for accuracy, completeness, and compliance.

Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise extreme discretion.

Ability to assess personal workload demands and proactively communicate, flagging instances of potential overwork or underutilization.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree plus at least (2) years of related project controls or administration experience OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Training in Project Management is preferred.

Training in project management software is preferred.

Natural gas or utility experience is preferred.

Physical Demands:

Duties are performed in an office environment.

Must be able to remain in a stationary position at least 50% of the time.

Consistently operate a computer and other office productivity machinery.

The person in this position frequently communicates with co‐workers and clients. Must be able to exchange accurate information.
