Job Summary:
The Electrical Wiring Technician is responsible for performing point-to-point wiring and wire end termination for various electrical components and panels. This role requires proficiency in utilizing hand and power tools, as well as measuring and testing equipment. The technician will work from blueprints, schematics, and drawings to install components, sub-assemblies, and wiring of panels, ensuring adherence to quality standards and customer specifications. Candidates will be NFPA 70 trained before moving into a test technician role.
Key Responsibilities:
Point-to-Point Wiring:
Execute precise point-to-point wiring for electrical panels and assemblies.
Perform wire end termination, ensuring secure and accurate connections.
Tool Utilization:
Utilize a variety of hand and power tools effectively to complete wiring tasks.
Operate measuring and testing equipment to ensure accuracy and functionality.
Component Installation:
Install electrical components, sub-assemblies, and wiring as outlined in technical documents.
Ensure all installations meet design specifications and operational requirements.
Blueprint and Schematic Interpretation:
Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to guide installation and wiring processes.
Make necessary adjustments based on the interpretation of these documents.
Quality Inspection:
Conduct thorough quality inspections of completed work to verify compliance with schematics and customer specifications.
Identify and address any discrepancies or issues promptly to maintain high-quality standards.
Collaboration and Communication:
Collaborate with team members and other departments to ensure smooth project execution.
Communicate effectively with supervisors and peers regarding project progress and any challenges encountered.
Qualifications:
Education: High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or relevant training in electrical wiring preferred.
Experience: Proven experience in electrical wiring, including point-to-point wiring and wire end termination.
Skills: Proficient in using hand and power tools, measuring and testing equipment. Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics.
Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy and attention to detail in all aspects of work.
Problem-Solving: Ability to identify and resolve wiring and installation issues efficiently.
Safety: Knowledge of safety protocols and best practices in electrical work.
