Job Description
Evaluate requests for purchase of supplies, equipment, and services to determine the appropriate procurement method to purchase, bid, or identify a new source of supply.
Assist in the development of bid specifications and standards to ensure the lowest pricing, promote competition, and maintain quality.
Provide support to employees regarding requisitions, purchase orders, and vendors.
Process requisitions into purchase orders in accordance with company policies, procedures, and ethics guidelines.
Compile and maintain organized purchasing records by assuring that purchasing activities are fully documented.
Enter daily purchase order/job cost transfers into Sage.
Follow up/expedite calls on outstanding orders using email whenever possible, to maintain documentation of conversations.
Perpetually maintain inventory records of materials and supplies and ensure the accuracy of such is maintained.
Check stock material on a daily basis to ensure min/max material levels are maintained.
Maintain the status of open order records and arrange for the receiving document to be filed so that it can be matched easily to the corresponding incoming invoice.
Work closely to ensure proper supplies have arrived, including work on the expediting report and follow as needed.
Skills and Qualifications Required
Hghschool or equivalent (required)
Post-Secondary education in Supply Chain Management (preferred but not required)
1-3 years’ experience in manufacturing/construction purchasing environment preferred.
Experience in purchasing/buying various steel (preferred but not required)
Work Environment
This is a full-time position which will typically involve at least 40 hours of work a week. Due to the nature of the job, the employee must be able to work overtime if necessary.
