Description
This position assists the Professional Staff in providing patient care in keeping with the goals and objectives of the facility. He/She will provide treatment services under the direct supervision of a certified chemical dependency counselor and will be responsible for developing skills in all twelve core functions outlined by the South Dakota Counselor Certification Board. This position requires a thorough understanding of the facility’s treatment program and philosophy. A working knowledge of substance abuse treatment, and work with patients and families to promote recover. This is a moderately complex position requiring the individual to serve as a primary counselor/case manager for assigned patients.

This is a full time position working 8 hour days five days a week
Essential Functions
Under supervision, assists in all facets of patient care including admission process, orientation, assessment, treatment planning and discharge.
Develop measurable treatment plans based on assessment.
Conduct or assist in group therapy sessions.
Conduct individual counseling sessions with patient and significant others, as needed.
Design, develop and implement educational sessions.
Participate in updating and summarizing treatment plans at clinical staffing.
Make appropriate entries in the clinical records to document ongoing progress of patients.
Conduct appropriate referral and plans for discharge and aftercare.
Conduct orientation with assigned patients and document in the appropriate area of the patient record.
Education and Licensure:
Addiction Counselor Trainee (minimum) through the SD BAPP. (Preferred)
