The Impact Youll Make in this Role
As a Planning Manager, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:

– Designing, implementing, and maintaining planning processes; determining the direction and priorities and assigning resources with full accountability for results of your functional area; implement standard work and action plans to ensure adequate level of inventory, supply, and quality service to customers.

– Facilitating the development and implementation of the plants planning vision and direction

– Leading the development and maintenance of the site planning processes based on best practices and actively partners with adjacent functions and stakeholders for alignment and execution

– Driving sustainable planning performance through capacity management responsiveness, delivery performance, supplier management and inventory management

– Identifying, defining, and implementing improvements to supply chain processes and performance, incorporating lean principles and cycle time reduction strategies

– Providing training and coaching on various planning processes such as inventory management, non-working inventory management, capacity planning, scheduling, procurement optimization, lean material flow, and customer service

– Conducting resource management; providing direct supervision to professional and support levels which include objective setting, performance management, and motivating, as well as training and coaching. Understanding and enforcing corporate/location policies and procedures; taking appropriate actions to address policy violations

– Supporting plant operational objectives in driving the Process Based Leadership initiative both in the Supply Chain function and through the leadership of the plant

– Developing solutions for highly complex and multi-faceted problems, which require ingenuity, creativity, innovation, and strong analytical skills

– Taking initiative to proactively create cross-functional collaboration and engagement to more effectively implement programs and process in support of meeting the sites plans and objectives

– Networking effectively across all business stakeholders and sister plants within those businesses to share key learnings and capitalize on best practices

– Actively participating on the site leadership team; contributing to the plants safety, quality, service, efficiency, cost, sustainability, and people development objectives

Your Skills and Expertise

To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

– Bachelors degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution

– Eight (8) combined years of experience in Supply Chain and/or Manufacturing in a private, public, government or military environment

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

– One (1) year of experience in a leadership and/or supervisory role in a private, public, government or military environment

– Knowledge and understanding of Shingo principles or principle-based leadership

– Previous Planning supervisory experience

– APICS/CPIM certification (American Production and Inventory Control Society – Certified Production and Inventory Management)

– Demonstrated ability to provide leadership to effectively deliver key operational objectives effecting Service, Inventory, Productivity and Logistics Cost
