Job Summary:

The Mechanical Designer will function with knowledge and experience in multiple design fields, while also having the ability to function as a part of the design team for small to large capital projects including compressor stations, pump stations and meter stations. Strike is looking for someone who has experience working with Cadworks, AutoCAD as well Civil 3D, capable of understanding mechanical requirements and civil/structural requirements.

Primary Job Functions:

Create material requisitions for equipment, piping, structural and any options the client requests and send to purchasing for all projects.

Contact vendors for quotes for fast turnaround material.

Answer questions from Client and/or construction groups on design for assigned project.

Create pull tickets for the warehouse to pull inventory items for all projects.

Consult with Project Manager/Coordinator & Shop Manager to prioritize projects based on client and shop schedule.

Coordinate with Engineering Manager to design and detail projects.

Consult with Project Manager/Coordinator and/or Estimator for questions, clarifications, discrepancies or possible change order items with project.

Develop detailed drawings for client review and shop fabrication based on customer specifications and information.

Drawings include P&IDs, General Arrangement, piping details, structural details, instrument hookup details, lifting diagrams, foundation loading details, nameplate details, CNC burn programs, and bill of materials (includes generating proper part numbers & descriptions to populate BOM) for all components.

Verify accuracy and completeness of all deliverable products and services in assigned areas of responsibility.

Experience:

5 years of experience in facilities creating mechanical and/or civil drafting/design drawings, preferably in Meter Stations, Pump Stations, Launcher/Receivers, Main Line Valves, Compression Stations, and As-builts.

Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, and Outlook).

Education/Training:

Associates degree in a relevant field such as Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related discipline, along with at least 5  years of experience in facilities creating mechanical draft/design drawings.

Competencies:

Develop Weld Map, Hydro Map, Torque Map, Heat map drawing for the shop and final data books.

Calculate weights for all projects.

Calculate center of gravity and provide details

Review and check all drawings for accuracy and completeness.

Submit all drawings to Engineering Manager to submit to the client and shop.

Walkdown finished product in shop to prepare as built drawings for all projects.

Create 3D models of project when required by client.

Assist applications with quote drawings as needed.

Keep track of hours per project.

Answer any questions the shop may have on drawings.

Build and maintain AutoCAD library of blocks, brochures and reference materials.

Maintain current documentation of customer standards, specifications and AML’s.

Maintain job reference spreadsheet with project details.

Assist Estimating with design questions for project bids.

Communicate with customers and provide information based on their specific needs/request.

Assist the electrical drafting team when the need arises.

Attend daily meetings with all department leads.

Displays strong written and oral communication skills and employs effective listening skills.

Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the electrical engineering field.

Utilizes exceptional multi-tasking and organizational skills with excellent attention to detail and emphasis on quality.

Accuracy, timeliness, tact, self-starter, problem-solving skills, and ability to work effectively with both employees and managers. 

Convey a positive and professional image to employees.

Other Criteria:

Ability to work flexible hours, occasionally in excess of a normal schedule.

Must be willing to travel to project sites to collect field data.

May be required to be out of town for multiple days at a time.

Complies with Strike’s policies and procedures.

Complies with Strike’s Drug & Alcohol Policy maintaining favorable drug testing results throughout employment.

Performs job safely with respect to others, property and individual safety.

Authorized to work in the United States.
