Electrical Technician

Job Summary:
The electric technician is responsible for installing, troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems including but not limited to pumps, motors, compressors, conveying systems, gear reducers, chain drives.
Roles/Responsibilities:
– Ensures safety is always an integral part of all job duties.
– Observe Texas Lehigh Cement Companys safety, health, and environmental policies and procedures.
– Response to emergency callouts and some overtime are requirements of the position.
– Maintain all documentation, including blueprints, schematics, sketches, drawings, calculations, and cost estimates.
– Conduct inspections and tests on electrical systems, utilize testing tools such as multi-meter and megohmmeter. (Training will be provided)
– Use ofsmall hand tools required to troubleshoot and repair electrical systems such as motor controls, low and medium voltage power, transformers, lighting, and various safety devices.
– Installing, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining sensors such as temperature sensors, pressure devices, mass weigh systems and all types of control systems and instrumentation.
– Troubleshooting of PLC control circuits and I/O drops, communication systems for data and control systems are required.
– Ranging from knowledge of rail activities to truck routes to different customer needs. Also, knowledge of different cement types. (Training will be provided)
– Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
– Able to read and understand electrical drawings, schematics, instruction manuals.
– Able to understand technical specifications with respect to equipment installation and operation
– Understand electric circuits and wiring troubleshooting.
– Know how to use tools to measure electric variables.
– Ability to understand AC/DC Motors.
– Ability to understand VFD.
– Experience in heavy industrial environments is preferred.
– Ability to solve math, physics and calculation power and voltage problems.
– Installing and troubleshooting AC/DC drives and controls.
– Work in and out of the shop in all weather conditions and dusty environment.
– Climb ladders and stairs, able to work on up to 6 stories level.
– Work extended hours performing preventive and corrective repairs of assigned plant equipment.
– After hours Call Out Schedule.
– Requires the ability to stand for up to 8-16 hours per day, lift 50 to 80 pounds from the floor to waist height frequently and to push/pull 110 pounds for up to 50 feet consecutively.
– Must be capable of climbing, kneeling, twisting, and bending in a varied environment.
Education/Experience:
– High School Diploma or equivalent required
– 2-3 years heavy industrial electrical maintenance experience.
