Bachelor’s degree.
Demonstrated experience working with students from various backgrounds;
Effective and accurate written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications
Experience with family programming
Current or former Texas State University employee or alumnus
Two or more years of prior professional experience in college admissions
Bilingual Spanish speaking
Experience with event coordination
Experience presenting to large groups
Experience working independently with minimum supervision
Job Description
The purpose of this position is to recruit prospective students to Texas State through visits from high schools, two-year colleges, and counseling students, parents, and visiting guests.
The Admissions Counselor position requires excellent oral and written communication skills as well as exceptional interpersonal skills.
Job Duties
Extensive contact and collaboration with high school and community college students, high school counselors, college advisors, university alumni, and other community organizations
Assisting with university programming such as campus visit days (i.e., Bobcat Day, Academic Visit Days, etc.), bus trips, information sessions
Assisting with preparation of correspondence and statistical reports
Counseling prospective students, families, and visiting guests in the college selection process
Evaluating academic credentials
Assisting faculty and other departments in recruitment efforts
Other duties as assigned
