As a Lab Analyst I in Farmington, NM, you will perform analysis and conducts mandated compliance tests of potable water, wastewater – influent and

effluent, sludge, industrial wastes, and other materials.

Essential Functions:

• Performs a variety of chemical, biochemical, and bacteriological tests as directed by supervisor.

• Conducts analysis of test results and makes evaluative conclusions.

• Performs routine computations, maintains records, and prepares reports.

• Maintains, cleans, and cares for laboratory equipment and material.

• This position required to be available on an on-call basis for emergencies

• Daily and punctual attendance in the office and/or job site or off-site locations is required

• Travel between work locations required.

• Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.

• High School Diploma or possession of a GED Certificate (Required)

• 12 university credit hours in biology or chemistry fields of study (Preferred)

• 1 year of related experience (Preferred)

Ideally, youll also have:

• Possession of a valid Driver’s License.

• Must acquire the necessary laboratory certification as required by the state within the requisite

time period:

o State Sample Technician II certification within 12 months of hire date

o State Waste Water Level II Laboratory Technician certification within 36 months of hire

date.

Additional demands may involve a specific level of dexterity, grip strength, climbing and cardiorespiratory demands. The work areas may be indoor, outdoor, have loud noise, active machinery, high pressure fluid systems, electrical equipment, confined spaces, heights and depths, fumes, air borne particles, noxious gases, and chemicals. The use of appropriate safety equipment will be mandatory in these areas to prevent hazardous contact.
