Description
The Mechanical Engineering Apprentice will support projects focusing on mechanical design that includes measuring, 3D modeling, creating drawings, and prototyping. They will measure and reverse engineer in house fixtures in order to design 3D models and create 2D drawings. They will be performing router/BOM verification to assure their accuracy. They will be trained to perform time studies for different manufacturing processes to assure proper cost calculation. In addition, they will be working with in house machine shop or a third-party vendor in order to assist fabricating components, subassemblies, and assemblies. They will be working with cross functional teams to achieve finishing different projects as part of operational team to support production.
Key Responsibilities
Measuring components using different measurement equipment
Create 3D models , using Solidworks
Create 2D drawings of a solid model, using Solidworks
Create Subassemblies and Assemblies to assure functionality
Prototyping
Create BOMs (Assembly/Product)
Perform mathematical calculations
Create layouts, using Solidworks or Draftsight
Perform process time study as needed
Router/BOM Verification
Attend Kaizens as needed
Write technical procedures such as assembly and preventive maintenance
Skills Knowledge and Expertise
Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Experience with Solidworks software
Strong technical presentation skills
Electrical and Programming background is a plus
Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering

One element in our total compensation package is base pay. The starting pay for this role is targeted between $23.00 to $25.00 per hour.
