We are looking for a Cyber Security Engineer to be part of our NBCU Security Engineering team. The Cyber Security Engineer supports security consulting engagements across all NBCU businesses, enterprise IT, and the Cyber Security organization to ensure technology is designed and deployed securely and aligned with Cyber Security and enterprise technology strategies.
The successful candidate will be joining NBCUniversal at an exciting time as we evolve our process and services. The Cyber Security Engineer will be responsible for conducting end to end security and threat analysis of enterprise initiatives involving new or modified technology deployments. The Cyber Security engineer will be responsible for completing security reviews, giving and receiving feedback, and will begin to specialize in one or more cyber disciplines. During security reviews, the Cyber Security Engineer ensures that business initiatives are deployed with Information Security best practices and guidelines across various Cyber Security technology areas, focusing on network, application, cloud, and enterprise security controls.
Finally, the Cyber Security engineer will partner with business customers, information security officer team members, and security engineering team members, so strong communication and organizational skills are necessary.
Basic Requirements:
2 years of practical engineering experience in enterprise IT or Cyber Security
Beginner-level knowledge in one or more technical areas (eg., Cloud, Network, Endpoint, etc) with a willingness to learn other areas as needed
Ability to explain common threats to components including Network, Cloud, Web and Application environments
Knowledge of best practices in the Cyber Security industry, including OWASP Top 10 and CWE/SANS Top 25
Ability to give and receive constructive feedback in a team environment
Excellent presentation, written and verbal communication skills
Able to work with remote team members and work independently without heavy supervision, but can ask for help or clarification when needed
Organized and professional, willing to take notes and help keep projects on track
Excellent time management skills to appropriately prioritize multiple concurrent projects
Desired Characteristics:
Formal Degree is not required, relevant experience in the above mentioned areas prioritized
Intermediate knowledge in one or more technical or cyber security areas
Experience providing cyber security guidance/consultative services
Experience performing threat analysis and modeling
Familiarity with security controls such as Cloud Security Matrix, NIST CSF, CIS Critical Security Controls
Experience using industry frameworks such as MITRE ATT&CK
Understanding of various data and privacy regulations, including PCI DSS, SOX, HIPAA, GDPR, CCPA
Understanding of common Cloud Services offered (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS)
Familiarity with Cybersecurity Engineering/Operations, Incident Response, and GRC functions
Experience using diagramming tools such as Lucidchart or Visio
