Plant Controller

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Plant Controller to join our team in Faribault, MN! In this role, you will be responsible for coordinating and analyzing monthly forecasts, dissecting financial data, and identifying risks and opportunities to drive financial performance and change. You will work closely with business leaders to ensure financial integrity, optimize resource allocation, and support growth initiatives through detailed financial analysis, strategic planning, and effective control measures.
Financial Analysis and Forecasting:
Coordinate and analyze monthly forecasts based on business inputs.
Dissect financial and non-financial data (pricing, inflation, inventory at risk, product portfolio, etc.) to identify risks and opportunities.
Prepare and analyze product profitability, report progress towards budget commitments, financial performance achievements, and trends.
Develop “what-if” simulations to recommend alternative courses of action.
Ensure accuracy and integrity of the BU balance sheet, support product portfolio assessments to drive growth and value creation through resource allocation and prioritization.
Strategic Planning and Reporting:
Coordinate planning and prepare analyses for financial cycles (budgets and reporting) for BU leadership.
Present alternative scenarios with associated risks and opportunities, recommending optimal courses of action.
Actively manage the capital requirement process and forecasting.
Consolidate and report results, analyze financial statements and evolution versus budget commitments, and identify risk and opportunity areas.
Team Development and Leadership:
Coach and develop team members to better understand the business, identify opportunities for improvement, and enhance overall financial acumen.
Mentor functional departments to promote a better understanding of financial tools and metrics designed to enhance profitability.
Provide training and drive ownership through reliable, clear, and frequent communication of performance and risks.
Risk Management and Internal Controls:
Manage and support business leaders and partners to ensure adequate implementation of business controls and internal control risk mitigation.
Oversee self-assessment, annual compliance statements, and self-audit/spot-audit of controls to ensure completeness and closure of management actions.
Support internal and external audits as needed.
Budget and Forecasting Coordination:
Organize the calendar and templates for budget and forecasting cycles.
Support the preparation of annual budget presentations and recommend action plans or countermeasures to address any gaps.
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field; CPA, CMA, or MBA is a plus.
5 years of progressive experience in manufacturing/finance and analytical roles of increasing responsibility. Previous experience should include roles such as Plant Controller, Cost Accountant/Manager or Other Finance Management positions.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data and present actionable insights.
Proven experience with financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting.
Strong understanding of financial tools, metrics, and digital transformation initiatives.
Experience in managing internal controls, audits, and risk assessments.
