Job Description
The Supervisor, Chemistry Laboratory LSS oversees operation and daily
activities of the laboratory Analysts and Technicians. Responsible for
scheduling of the samples testing and projects, reports writing, and
maintenance of laboratory instruments and equipment. Serves as a
technical resource and leads the team in analytical techniques and
analysis of data.
JOB FUNCTIONS
– Manages a team of the laboratory Analysts and Technicians.
– Has limited responsibility of direct reports (in conjunction with
the Laboratory Manager interviews and selects final candidates,
plans and schedules daily work assignments, completes performance
evaluations, performance management and disciplinary actions
documents for employees).
– Responsible for the on-time and quality of work produced by the
Chemistry Laboratory.
– Ensures the laboratory delivers results as scheduled and as agreed
with the client.
– Responsible for compliance with ISO-17025 testing laboratory
accreditations, ISO-17020 inspection agency accreditations, ISO
Guide 65 Product Certification Service accreditations, and ISO-9001,
and may contribute to ISO-14001, ANSI Z10-2005 or OHSAS 18001
compliance as applicable.
– Serves as a technical expert for the team in study designs,
analytical techniques and analysis of data.
– Trains Analysts on techniques and methods of analysis.
– Writes and reviews protocols and reports, develops, reviews, submits
and files reports on client sample tests, correlation tests,
calibration, validation and other projects.
– Develops and validates analytical methods, Standard Operating
Procedures (SOPs) and other operating, safety and quality documents
as needed.
– Investigates, responds to and follow-up on client inquiries and
complaints.
– Provides technical support to Marketing, Sales, Customer Service and
clients regarding testing, reporting or technical inquiries.
– Inputs and maintains technical information to support the laboratory
functions/operations.
– Completes laboratory tasks and assignments within tight deadlines.
– Manages multiple projects as assigned.
– Maintains Laboratory Notebook.
– Assists in keeping inventory of laboratory chemicals and equipment
necessary for the day-to-day functioning of the laboratory and in
compiling list of supplies to be ordered when needed.
– Adheres to internal standards, policies and procedures.
– Performs other duties as assigned.

– Has some authority for personnel actions (scheduling work hours,
training, and coaching)

Qualifications
– Bachelors degree in chemistry, Biology, or related sciences
discipline
– 3 years working in an Analytical chemistry setting with experience
following strict safety standards with hands-on experience on GC-MS,
UPLC-MS and/or ICP-MS instruments
– Experience in chromatography and nitrosamines testing is
preferred
– Extractables and Leachables or Elemental impurities analysis and
development
– 2 year of protocol and report writing experience.
– 1-3 years supervisory/Team Lead experience
– Masters degree in Chemistry or related scientific disciplines
– 3-5 years of pharmaceutical industry experience in FDA regulated
labs including GMP/GLP/GDP operations
