Construction Material Testing Technician

Purpose: The Construction Material Technician position completes field/laboratory testing of construction materials such as concrete, soils, aggregates, and asphalt. Perform sampling and testing of various construction materials in accordance with ASTM and project specifications. General Information: This job position will require performing all duties needed to accomplish the needed tasks and duties as directed by your immediate supervisor/manager of this firm. The job is physically demanding, requiring heavy manual lifting (50 lbs. ) and carrying, walking over rough terrain; working around heavy traffic, dust, noise, fumes, moving machinery, and muddy sites and working in all weather conditions. Typical Duties, Roles, and Responsibilities include but not limited to: Asphalt Testing, Soil Testing, Concrete Testing, Other Material Testing Ability and knowledge to operate field testing equipment. Updates supervisor and dispatcher on progress and delays on every project Observe and follow all company safety rules and procedures. Responsible to conduct field or laboratory testing, sampling, or inspection services. Contacts dispatcher/coordinator for priorities and deadlines both in the field and laboratory Meets with contractors supervisors, architects representatives, or other project leaders on project sites to discuss and coordinate testing, sampling, or inspection of construction materials or construction procedures. Insures the safe utilization, storage, and maintenance of all nuclear gauges. Ensures safe usage and maintenance of individually assigned company vehicle and field equipment. Meets established project deadlines. Submits accurate and complete inspection reports daily. Other duties as assigned by Dispatch/ Supervisor. This position will require traveling to our various locations as previously discussed. MEG locations are in Pharr, San Benito, Laredo, Austin, Houston, and Odessa. Jobs can and will be performed in all of Texas. Temporary or permanent relocations may be discussed in the future depending on workload.
