Dental Assistant
Amergis
The Dental Assistant provides support to the dentist duringpatient care and completes the preparation of the room and dentaltools/equipment. The Dental Assistant complete intake paperwork, update patientrecords, sterilize and organize dental tools, and assist during any dentalprocedures.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Prepares patient, sterilizes and disinfects instruments,sets up instrument trays, prepares materials, and assists dentist during dentalprocedures
Takes and records medical and dental histories
Exposes dental diagnostic x-rays
Makes preliminary impressions for study casts and occlusalregistrations for mounting study casts
Assists dentist in management of medical and dentalemergencies
Instructs patients in oral hygiene and plaque controlprograms
Provides postoperative instructions prescribed by dentist
Records treatment information in patient records
Schedules appointments, prepare bills, and receives paymentfor dental services, completes insurance forms, and maintains clerical recordsmanually or using the computer
Other duties as assigned
Minimum Requirements:
High School diploma or its equivalent
Current License/Certificate within state of practice
One year experience as Dental Assistant preferred
Complies with all relevant professional standards ofpractice
Participation and completion of Amergis’ Competency programwhen applicable
Current CPR if applicable
TB Questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable
Current Health certificate (per contract or stateregulation)
Must meet all federal, state and local requirements
Successful completion of new hire training as applicable tojob site
Understand patient confidentiality and HIPAArequirements
Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to and fromappropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors,co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in theEnglish language is required
Computer proficiency required
Must be at least 18 years of age
