About the Position

The Parks Division of Lane County Public Works seeks seasonal staff for its Florence-based Parks crew. Help us maintain our beautiful County Parks! Job duties include operating light equipment and performing manual work (mowing, weeding, cleaning bathrooms, hauling trash, etc.).

About the Division

Lane Countys parks and open spaces are located in the regions most beautiful natural areas and offer opportunities for year-round recreation. There are abundant trails for hiking and biking, ocean beaches and covered bridges to photograph and explore, and lakes and rivers to fish and float. Visitors and residents come to camp, fish, picnic, and play. Lane County Parks hosts over 3 million visitors per year at 68 recreational sites that total over 4,300 acres. These sites offer reservoir access, river access, marinas, and a variety of camping options.

Schedule: 8 hour shifts Monday through Friday. Shifts may change per operational needs.

This is a 626 represented position

This position is budgeted for a maximum of 1,040 hours during the fiscal year.

QUALIFICATIONS

Training:

Formal or informal education or training which insures the ability to read and write at a level necessary for successful job performance.

Experience:

Six months of experience in the operation of light equipment or in semi-skilled tasks. Experience working in a parks environment is desirable.

An equivalent combination of experience and training that will demonstrate the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying.

Special Requirements:

Possession of a valid Oregon Driver’s license at time of appointment.

Health insurance coverage becomes effective the first of the month following your first 30 days as an eligible employee.

Medical/Rx/Vision – Lane County offers medical, prescription and vision exam coverage for you and your eligible dependents. The plan options and costs per month for 2018 are outlined below:

If you enroll in the HDHP the County will contribute to your HSA: $1,500 (individual) or $3,000 (family) annually. This amount is prorated based on date of hire.

Eligible employees who complete a Health History Risk Assessment (HHRA), Biometric Screening, and Comprehensive Health Review (CHR) at the Live Well Center receive a $20 per month credit.

Wellness Clinic – The Live Well Center is for Lane County benefits-eligible employees, spouses and dependents (ages 2 and up) who are enrolled in the Lane County health plan.
