Job Summary:

The position of kennel team leader at the Bed n Bark Inn requires someone who is highly charismatic, responsible, has great attention to detail, understands the importance of maintaining pet hotel cleanliness, and has the necessary skills to train other people. Animal care and treatment and customer service are also important aspects of the job. This position mainly requires evening shifts with rotating weekends. This position is supervised directly by the Pet Hotel Manager and the Kennel Supervisor.

Responsibilities:

– Animal Care Responsibilities:
– Lead in team of staff in the absence of the manager and supervisor and after business hours.
– Create cleaning projects as needed.
– Routinely check on cleanliness of pets, runs and inside kennels and cages, kennel area and cat condos and cat area.
– Confirm kennel staff has completed mandatory tasks for each day.
– Inspect the cleaned dog dens and cat condos and complete applicable checklist.
– Manage the feeding and caring for animals who are guests at the Pet Hotel.
– Maintain current knowledge of zoonotic diseases.
– Implement safety procedures when walking pets and opening cages to ensure the safety of the staff and the animals.
– Maintain a high standard of patient care.
– Restrain animals, when necessary, and enforce HARTs safety rules and procedures.
– Make sure all pets and their belongings go home clean.
– Alert manager to changes in pets appearances or behaviors as well as staff concerns.
– Assist the managers, technicians, and other kennel assistants when requested.
– Monitor the teams environment.

Customer Service Responsibilies:

– Assisting Pet Hotel Manager with filing and maintaining charts.
– Assisting clients with multiple pets.
– Bringing up patients to reception following discharge instructions.
– Maintain compassion, sympathy, and professionalism during high-stress situations.

Cleanliness Responsibilities:

– Lead and participate, when necessary, in preparing food and serving it to the pet guests
– Ensure that the all feeding bowls are removed after eating and putting them in the dishwasher
– Verify that kennel assistants walk pet guests according to the daily schedule
– Organize and monitor the following: cleaning dog dens and cat condos
– Following daily, weekly and monthly task lists including cleaning
– Maintaining litter boxes and cat guests
– Maintaining proper dilutions for cleaning solutions replenishing supplies
– Alerting the manager of any issues related to the pet guests
– Following all safety regulations to ensure the safety of the guests, as well as personal safety
– Monitor overall maintenance (both inside and outside the hotel) of the sights, smells and sounds of the hotel.
