Job Title: Machinist

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Machinist to join our team. You will work with precision tools, machinery, and equipment such as lathes, manual milling machines, drill presses, hydraulic presses, band saws, and a variety of cutting tools and equipment. Your primary responsibilities will include fabricating and shaping parts out of metal, properly selecting, aligning, securing, and removing holding fixtures and cutting tools, and utilizing gauges and precision measuring instruments to meet tolerance requirements. You will also be responsible for reading and interpreting engineering drawings and blueprints, performing daily maintenance tasks, and tracking parts and jobs in Travelers. Safety and cleanliness are paramount in this role, and you must comply with all procedures, rules, and regulations to maintain a safe working environment.

Experience with large part machining (ship propeller shafting, ship steering gear, etc.)

Job Type

This is a permanent position.

Work Site

This is a fully on-site position in North Charleston, South Carolina.

Work Environment

This is a job shop environment that is very labor-intensive, with equipment that can be 40-50 feet in length. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high. Day shift and night shift hours available. Training will be conducted on the day shift for roughly 6-8 months.
