Basic Job Functions:

The role of the Hot Mill Lab Technician includes but is not limited to;Perform mechanical property testing on all of Nucors sheet products. Unload, collect and prepare tensile and Rockwell test samples by using a hydraulic shear, CNC machine, sheet metal punch press, and a band saw. Collect and prepare radical grade transition samples and verify information in the computer. Monitor and calibrate calipers, micrometers and tape measures for the hot mill and pickle lines. Prepare and test samples using Magnetic Particle Inspection. Able to work rotating shifts and scheduled/unscheduled overtime including nights, weekends and holidays.

Minimum Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent

Preferred Qualifications:

Familiarity with lab operations, gauges and calibration criteria

Familiarity with all flat rolled products: HR/CR/Galv

Familiarity with quality and/or laboratory management systems (eg: IATF 16949, ISO 17025, ISO 9001)
