This temporary internship will start in May 2025 and work from our Johnston, Iowa location. Hours will be Monday through Thursday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Learning Objectives:
Learn about the talent acquisition process by drafting advertisements, sharing ideas to expand brand awareness for new talent and corresponding with candidates.
Welcome new employees by helping prepare onboarding materials and assisting with coordination of orientation activities.
Assist with Internship program coordination by planning, organizing and executing events and programs, collaborating with departments and HR team, and acting as liaison between interns and organizers, ensuring everyone stays informed and engaged. Motivate and drive participation among intern peers to fully engage with opportunities available throughout the summer.
Support a strong culture by helping plan and facilitate employee engagement events such as One Team days and the Summer Celebration.
Explore learning and development programs by helping prepare a leadership development session.
Research, compile, and provide recommendations related to employment laws relevant to HR business operations.
Help facilitate job description standardization project to ensure consistency, clarity, and fairness across the organization.
Learn about operational and legal aspects of HR data management by updating and organizing a document retention guide for HR team and leaders.
Engage in programs and networking opportunities to strengthen business acumen in the insurance industry.
Represent Delta Dental of Iowa in a professional manner both internally and externally.
Maintain strict confidentiality.
Perform other duties and projects as assigned.
Requirements
Must be an undergraduate student working toward a Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, Communications, or related field.
Must be able to demonstrate current 3.0 GPA or higher through transcripts.
Must be registered as a student to a college or university for the 2025 Fall session.
Familiarity with Microsoft programs including Excel, Word, Teams, and PowerPoint.
Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
Strong attention to detail.
Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
Basic understanding of HR principles and employment preferred.
Self-motivated to learn and ability to work independently and with diverse groups.
Participants will be required to submit a written analysis of project work and present a summary of analysis to leadership at the end of the program.
