Medium Voltage Electrician

Amentum is seeking a Medium Voltage Electrician in the Williamsburg area of Virginia. The Medium Voltage Electrician operates and maintains medium voltage switchgear and controls along with having responsibility for operating equipment. The MV Electrician works in the electrical shop and will support the electrical shop in electrical maintenance duties when no medium voltage work is necessary. In general, the work of the MV electrician requires rounded training and experience acquired through a formal apprenticeship or equivalent training and experience. Duties can involve some technical elements such as troubleshooting repairs. The role is hands-on and directly manipulates the equipment requiring a precise operation.

Job Requirements:
Installing or repairing any of a variety of electrical equipment such as generators, transformers, switchboards, controllers, circuit breakers, motors, or other transmission equipment
Working from blueprints, drawings, layouts, or other specifications, locating and diagnosing trouble in the electrical system or equipment, working standard computations relating to load requirements of wiring or electrical equipment
Using a variety of electricians hand tools and measuring and testing instruments.
Adherence to ANSI safety standards.
Knowledge of NEC code required.
Ability to read blueprints, manuals, and construction drawings.
Experience working with medium voltage electricity.
Responsible for connecting electrical cables.
Experience in grounding.
Experienced in lockout tag out.
Experienced in meggering cables.
Will be required to complete all training including Flash Arc Training and Basic Electrical Safety Training as provided.
Must be able to determine the appropriate level of personal protective equipment (PPE) needed for the specific assigned task.
Troubleshoots equipment for electrical issues to prevent malfunctions and/or identify opportunities for improvements.
Responsible for troubleshooting electrical issues, repairing, replacing, and maintaining the electrical wiring and circuits on assets on the base by responding promptly to equipment breakdowns and repairing the machinery’s electrical components in a timely manner.
Knowledge and experience working with voltages up to 13.2 KVA.
Skilled in use of tools common to the trade including electric metersand hand and powered tools.
Performs preventive maintenance for electrical fixtures throughout base.
Performs general maintenance tasks necessary for repair at the property.
Responds to maintenance calls, troubleshooting and repairing issues.
Runs new power/cables and performs project work for the base.
Prepares estimates, man hours, materials used, and orders items needed for job completion or inventory replacement per established procedures.
Follows all policy, procedures and service standards and complies with all current related safety and health requirements.
Ability to work independently or in a team-driven setting.
Basic decision-making skills; uses independent judgment.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Must be able to climb stairs and ladders to include extension laddersrepetitively during the shift.
Minimum Requirements:
Journeyman License (any state) or 3 years of experience.
Must possess an active government issued clearance at the time of application
High School Diploma or GED
Valid Drivers License
