JMT is seeking a Resident Engineer responsible for engineering design using knowledge of general engineering principles and practices to interpret, organize, execute and coordinate assignments with limited supervision. Acts as a technical advisor to less experienced engineers. This will be in the Campbell County, Kentucky area.

Essential functions and responsibilities

Plan, schedule, conduct or coordinate detailed phases of the engineering work in a part of a major project or in a total project of moderate scope

Analyze survey reports, maps, drawings, blueprints, aerial photography and other topographical or geologic data to plan projects

Perform design computations

Design projects in accordance with client specifications and guidelines, using design software and drawing tools

Develop construction cost estimates

Assist in the preparation of engineering documents for advertisement and construction

Prepare and compile contract plans, specifications and estimates

Manage project sub-consultants and in-house support disciplines

Develop extra work order requests and open-end contract task proposals

Prepare proposals as required

Attend meetings with clients

Coordinate with internal team members to ensure project completion by the defined deadline and established quality

Nonessential functions and responsibilities

Perform other related duties as assigned

Required Skills

Must successfully complete and pass JMTs Motor Vehicle screening.

Written and communication skills

Required Experience

Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a related field from an ABET accredited engineering program

5-10 years’ experience in specialized discipline

Proficient in discipline specific design software

Proficient in Microsoft Office

Professional Engineer License by the Kentucky Board of Engineers and Land Surveyors

Preferred Experience

Experience working with local clients at the county and state level

Working Conditions

Work is performed within a general office environment 95% of the time. Work is generally sedentary in nature, but may require occasional standing and walking. Lighting and temperature are adequate and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. within the office environment.

Field work is required on occasion where work may be conducted outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions. Some lifting (up to 25 lbs) may be required as needed.
