Position Overview
The Material Handler is a position is designed for an experienced and knowledgeable employee. The Material Handler is responsible for preparing and moving materials for storage in the warehouse. They are also responsible for the correct packaging, preparation and storage of Finished Goods in the warehouse, and supporting production needs for raw materials. A successful Material Handler will be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
Essential Job Functions
All Safety, ISO, GMP and Product Safety regulations must be observed
Responsible for daily inspection of forklifts and completing Daily Forklift Inspection Log
Shrink wrap and band Finished Goods as necessary
Prepare, label, store and scan WIP and Finished Goods into the warehouse system as required by procedure in both the North and South buildings.
Identify and repack all pallets of finished goods that are damaged during warehouse handling by Material Handling personnel.
Responsible for the storage of designated materials.
Support production by delivering and stocking, packaging goods, raw materials and pallets to production as needed.
Keep all work areas clean / organized.
Maintain organization of all cartons and other packaging materials in warehouse
Coordinate shipments of empty Gaylord containers with the Shipping Supervisor
Ability to train junior employees on warehouse functions
Non-essential Job Functions
Assist in quarterly physical inventory and cycle counts as needed
Qualifications
Requirements
Ability to work evenings and weekends
Willingness to listen and learn through on the job training from the Warehouse Manager
Willing to learn and back up Shipping/Receiving position.
Basic math skills.
Bilingual preferred
Forklift certification required.
Other Skills/Abilities
Ability to use computers, hand scanners, shrink wrapper, and banding guns
Ability to visually inspect pallets for defects and resolve potential issues
Prioritize duties in a fast paced, busy environment
