DESCRIPTION OF WORK
As a Social Worker 2, you will support social workers and provide lead work, direction, and training for social service staff. You will participate in developing, implementing, providing, and coordinating social service programs for assigned caseloads. You will also collaborate with the unit team during pre-placement plans and the discharge process. This includes reviewing voluntary and involuntary individuals intake, commitment, re-commitment, or discharge data and documentation. In addition, you will ensure the quality of services provided meets the needs of the individuals served and their families, as well as medical assistance standards.
In this role, you will develop and implement individualized training programs to enhance self-sufficiency by improving social skills, mobility skills, and community awareness. You will also serve as liaison with the substitute decision maker in the processing of consents. In addition, you will initiate and answer communications to and from families, agencies, and other interested parties to keep them informed of the individuals health, adjustment, and program progress by being aware of individuals daily happenings, activities, and services offered.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
Full-time employment (37-hour work week)
Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday – Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
This position includes daylight flex hours.
On-call hours are required as operationally necessary.
Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
Two years of experience as a Social Worker 1 or Forensic Social Worker 1 (commonwealth titles) (must have been employed in a commonwealth social worker job title on September 8, 2008, with continuous commonwealth employment); or
Two years of experience as a Social Worker 1 or a Forensic Social Worker 1 and a bachelors degree in social work or social welfare; or
Two years of professional experience providing direct public or private social work services, and a bachelors degree in social work or social welfare; or
A masters degree in social work or social welfare.

You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Legal Requirements:
A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination and drug screening.
This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
