Summary This is a public notice flyer to notify interested applicants of anticipated vacancies. Applications will not be accepted through this flyer. Notice of Result letters will not be sent to applicants who respond to this flyer. Responsibilities You will perform structural firefighting duties for a variety of facilities. You will perform airfield firefighting by involving air traffic or support operations where hazardous conditions are. You will operate a variety of firefighting equipment. You will combat fire or rescue personnel on board ships where conditions create very difficult and dangerous situations. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least at least six months of general work experience or military service that demonstrates your ability to follow directions and to read, understand, and retain a variety of instructions, regulations, and procedures and that otherwise demonstrates your ability to perform or learn to perform the duties of the position. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. Education Appropriate firefighter training may be substituted for experience on a month-for-month basis. Firefighter training obtained as part of a high school curriculum – may be substituted for the 6 months of general experience required for GS-3. Additional Information This announcement uses the Defense Industrial Base, Major Range and Test Facilities direct hire authority to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to certain positions in the competitive service. This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program. This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required. The position often requires irregular hours. This position requires rotating shift work. This position requires evening and weekend work. If selected below the full performance level, you may be noncompetitively promoted to the next higher grade level after meeting all regulatory requirements, and upon the recommendation of management. Promotion is neither implied nor guaranteed. Several vacancies may be filled. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if the selectee fails to meet the pre-employment requirements, including failure to report to any of the scheduled appointments.
