Job Description
The Director of Development Communications and Content Creation will execute a leading-edge, best-practice communications program for Tarleton State’s Office of Development that exemplifies appreciation in contemporary, compelling and highly creative ways. The Director will be expert in essential software applications aligned with the position’s core responsibilities and will serve as a liaison between the Office of Development and Tarleton State’s Department of Marketing and Communications.
In this role, the Director will represent a clearinghouse for the Office of Development related to communications and marketing-based priorities thus streamlining workflow and maximizing internal collaboration. The Director, in addition, will manage the Office of Development’s digital domains, including the Tarleton Fund (annual giving) website, social media platforms, and external communications strategy.
It is expected that the Director will bring a level of novel, exciting creativity and a track record for defining, creating, and executing projects, programs, and initiatives that successfully engage external audiences via contemporary, modern channels. The Director will be an advanced communicator, a proven writer, and a professional capable of effectively communicating across myriad audiences and constituencies. The Director, in addition, will have direct experience with website design and management and thus able to effectively create and drive modern web environments critical to elevating, with donors and supporters, Tarleton State as a model, 21st century university.
Reporting to the Associate Vice President for Development, the Director of Development Communications and Content Creation will play a critical role in growing and expanding Tarleton State’s donor community. This is an in-office position located in Stephenville, Texas with regular work hours of Monday to Friday from 8Am to 5PM or as work requirements indicate which may include afterhours, evenings, and some weekends. Must be able to work remotely if requested by the University.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Serves as the liaison between the Office of Development and the Department of Marketing and Communications at Tarleton State University.
Serves in a “clearinghouse” role to streamline marketing / communications-based requests, prioritize requests, and deliver content in a timely and highly professional manner in concert with the Department of Marketing and Communications.
To sit on the Department of Marketing and Communications leadership team to solidify coordination, communication, and efficacy between said unit and the Office of Development.
Parlays a high level of modern creative competency into best-practice graphic design and digital tools dedicated to donor appreciation, engagement, and confidence.
Modernizes the Office of Development’s communications efforts through the use of leading-edge technology and modern digital mediums.
Manages the Tarleton Fund website, using the domain as a showcase for donor appreciation, student-centered impact, and high-level achievement.
Creates modern proposal templates that exemplify excellence and contemporary style.
Supports the Office of Development’s major gifts team by providing leading-edge design services while ensuring that development-centric external communications emanating from colleges and units across campus are aligned, coordinated, and strategic.
Manages digital communication that inspires donors from all backgrounds and creates a collective confidence in Tarleton State and the university’s exciting trajectory.
Creates modern, compelling graphics for invitations, flyers, social media posts, philanthropic proposals, corporate sponsorship requests, stewardship-based donor communications.
Utilizes modern technology and design software to present external communications in a polished, professional, and dignified fashion that exemplifies a commitment to excellence.

Qualifications
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
Ten years of related experience in communications
Preferred Education and Experience:
Masters degree from an accredited institution.
Ten years successful professional experience in a content creation role (communications, graphic design, web design and support)
Excellent organizational skills and communication skills, both verbal and written.
The ability to be customer service-oriented and bring together various institutional partners with varying interests is essential.
Highly collaborative and a team player. Must exhibit cultural competence. Problem-solving skills, creativity, positivity, and the ability to manage several assignments simultaneously are required
A superior attention to detail.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Proven experience in core competencies: graphic design, web services, external communications.
Experience in engaging external audiences with intent to sell via modern communications mediums.
High-level proficiency in essential, modern design tools to include (all candidates to present work samples):Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign, and Adobe Photoshop
Experience with web design and proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and PHP.
Demonstrated written and oral communication skills;
Exceptional professional interpersonal and team-building skills including collaboration with others to establish and maintain good working relationships;

The scope of the job may require travel and attendance at evening and/or weekend activities, meetings, events, seminars and workshops
Salary:
The target base annual salary is commensurate with experience and may be negotiable based on funding availability and candidate experience/skillset in relation to the minimum requirements of this position.
