This position is for a Human Factors Designer (Hybrid Schedule Available) with a company located in Moss Point.
Summary: A Human Factors Designer will be responsible for developing CAD modeling into presentational views, reviewing compartment arrangements for human factors criteria, and preparing CDRL documentation. This role involves ensuring that systems meet human factors criteria to enhance safety and comfort in ship design.
Key Responsibilities and Duties: Develop CAD models into presentational views. Review compartment arrangements to ensure compliance with human factors criteria. Prepare CDRL documentation. Inspect, evaluate, and review ship designs in 3D and onboard to ensure adherence to human factors criteria. Identify and resolve issues to improve safety and comfort. Ensure designs meet USCG, US Navy, ABS, SOLAS, and government shipbuilding standards.
Qualifications and Education: Minimum of one (1) year of marine/shipyard experience. Minimum of three (3) years of CAD operating experience with 3D modeling software such as AutoCAD, ShipConstructor, Solidworks, and/or NavisWorks.
Basic working knowledge of computer software (Microsoft Suite, Adobe, etc.). Working knowledge of USCG, US Navy, ABS, SOLAS, and government shipbuilding standards. Ability to understand functional ship design drawings and identify issues for improvement. Experience with ASTM standards F1166, F1337, Mil-Std-882, and Mil-Std-1472G is a plus.
Skills: Proficiency in 3D modeling software (AutoCAD, ShipConstructor, Solidworks, NavisWorks). Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and teamwork abilities. Attention to detail and ability to work independently. Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe applications.
