1066 Startup Engineer Specialist – Fire Protection

Duties and Responsibilities:

– Plans, coordinates and executes difficult specialized assignments within a type of facility or type of process for startup, operations, maintenance and testing.
– Apply specialized knowledge of startup methods to the solution of specific problems.
– Provides the resolution of technical questions arising in the area of specialty.
– Uses advanced startup engineering techniques and the modification and extension of theories, precepts and practices of related sciences and disciplines.
– Receives operational supervision and technical assignments from the Manager of Startup or, a Startup Engineering Manager.
– Provide technical advice and counsel on specific assignments.
– Develop and evaluate plans and criteria within a discipline or specialty for a variety of project activities.
– Interpret new or special regulations, codes, standards, criteria and performance data relating to a specialty.
– Provide input and participates in special technical educational and training programs as directed.
– Maintain up-to-date knowledge within area of expertise regarding new concepts, approaches and solutions to problems.
– Assist in project design reviews and project operations manual preparation.
– Prepare and give presentations to management and others as directed.
– Assist in the preparation of contract proposals.
– Provide technical guidance and on-the-job training to subordinates and project personnel as assigned.
– Perform field consulting services as required.

 

Required Qualifications/ Skills / Experience:

– Bachelors degree in a technical discipline plus. The required qualifications are normally acquired through a recognized degree in an engineering, technical, or scientific discipline from an accredited college or university, a U. S. Military curriculum specialized courses in a technical field, or 12 – 18 years of practical work experience in startup, operations maintenance or testing or other relevant work experience in design engineering, field engineering, or construction to the degree necessary to perform the responsibilities outlined.
– 8 – 10 years practical work experience in startup, operations, maintenance or testing and basic knowledge of pertinent industry or regulatory standards.
– Some knowledge of construction or field engineering, of engineering systems, and applications of startup/test methods.
– Some knowledge of code, mathematics, or computers.
– Basic skill in communications.
– Candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance, if required.
– The individual(s) performing the task should have a minimum two year degree in electronics or electrical engineering, certified to NICET level IV in Fire Alarms with at least five years related experience or, successfully tested to NICET level IV requirements with at least ten years related experience is
– A working knowledge of Notifier (SFP-1024, AFP-200/300/400, AM-1010/2020), Simplex (4004, 4005, 4020, 4100), Silent Knight (4820), Pyrotronics (System 3, Pyrolarm 250-volt) is essential to fulfill task requirements is .
– A working knowledge of the National Fire Code and the ability to apply it to designs and installations and then communicate related issues to management is necessary is .
– This is a badged position requiring U S Citizenship.
